One again things have been quite here because Tinsley is again in the hospital.  Yesterday was the 4-month anniversary of his birth.  Circumstances are similar to his last hospital admission: breathing trouble and needing more oxygen.  We will be meeting with our team of doctors later this week to decide on what kind of surgery he needs to eliminate his reflux and aspiration that continue to threaten his airway.

In the meantime, here are some highlights from my Twitter feed including some pictures.  I have begun using instagram to post pictures, so if you are also a user feel free to connect with me that way as well.

We had a nice quiet week with Tinsley.  He has been recovering well since his hospital stay last week.  We are hopeful that he will have another good week in preparation for a surgery to hopefully solve the reflux problem that continues to cause his respiratory difficulty.  He has been working very hard on his manual dexterity.  Early this morning he discovered his hand again, reached for mine, and grabbed on.  What a thrill!

As always, here are highlights from my Twitter feed you may have missed.  Be sure to check out the pictures and video of the kid:

Another week of drama with our son’s health.  We took him to the ED last Tuesday and he was just released today.  He had some sort of infection, but responded well to antibiotics.  Continue to pray for him as he had two strange episodes (crying, constriction of pupils, and gray color) that the doctors have concluded was him being overwhelmed and frightened of what is happening to him.  Poor little guy has been through so much in his first 3.5 months.

We did have the pleasure of meeting a family who have been heavily involved in the local Little People (LP) scene.  The McKee family was in the hospital as well and we just happened to meet because by chance they happened to walk past our room on Sunday.  What a wonderful new family we have because of our son’s impressive difference.

Thanks to Gramie and Granpop, Hidi and I got to step out with some friends for a few hours.  Thank you again to people who continue to show up with meals that help to take off so much stress.

Other than Tinsley’s treatments every 4 hours it has been a rather quiet week, that is until this morning.  Tinsley had some labored breathing over the past few days that were rather episodic, but today it was stronger and more difficult to shake.  Our home healthcare nurse suggested we take him to get evaluated at the hospital.  They quickly did an xray and found that he has pneumonia.  He was admitted to the PICU for stabilization.  Expecting to stay for 3 to 10 days depending on how well he responds to medication.

Good news is that he has been smiling at the hospital after being fussy and in distress for a few hours this morning.  And he gained weight: he now weighs more than 4 kilos!

It has been so long since I have been able to sit down to the computer with more than one brain cell functioning!  If you have followed me on Twitter or facebook or read through my most recent posts, you may have a vague idea of the events that have surrounded my son’s fight to breathe.

In summary after 3 breathing emergencies outside the hospital, Tinsley, now 3-months old, has a tracheotomy and a feeding tube.  Doctors seem hopeful that the feeding tube is very temporary and we are comforted to know that his fight to breathe is much resolved with the new airway.

As is the fashion with Twitter Tuesday posts, here is what you may have missed on my twitter feed this week:

  • Discharge from the hospital today! Our 3-month-old is coming home… hopefully to stay this time! (20 Jul)
  • I get to sleep in a bed for the first time in a month! #hospitaljoys (21 Jul)
  • Brief run to the ED with Tinsley. All is well; we just had an equipment malfunction and needed medical assistance. (21 Jul)

Hopefully this post will mark my ability to get back on track with sharing great Christian resources, exposing some very poor ones, and sharing thoughts on faith and our hope expressed in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
